
Project Engineer & Trainer

Summary
The Project Engineer & Trainer is responsible for implementing, customizing, and maintaining the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to optimize power plant operations, asset lifecycle management, and inventory control. This role combines technical engineering expertise with training and capacity-building responsibilities, ensuring both Expatriate and Local staff are equipped with the skills to effectively use CMMS, engineering tools, and communication platforms. The position requires a multidisciplinary professional with strong engineering, IT, and instructional capabilities.
Key Responsibilities (Project Engineer)
Customize and optimize CMMS modules for work order management, inventory control, asset and equipment tracking, maintenance history documentation, automated workflows, real-time dashboards, and comprehensive reporting and analytics.
Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules (minor and major services) and predictive maintenance programs for engines and auxiliary equipment based on CMMS data analysis and equipment performance trends.
Monitor and manage work order lifecycle, including task assignment, progress tracking, resource allocation, and completion verification to ensure timely maintenance execution.
Lead and coordinate quarterly physical inventory audits of spare parts, materials, consumables, and tools in collaboration with O&M staff to ensure accuracy and accountability.
Prepare comprehensive monthly inventory reports detailing spare parts, materials, consumables, and tools, including stock levels, usage trends, and variance analysis.
Generate weekly and monthly maintenance reports based on work order data, tracking completion rates, equipment downtime, maintenance costs, and performance metrics.
Review and validate purchase requisitions created by the Maintenance Manager for spare parts, materials, and consumables to prevent duplication and ensure procurement efficiency.
Conduct pre-maintenance assessments to verify the availability of spare parts, tools, materials, and supplies for all scheduled maintenance activities, promptly notifying the Maintenance Manager of any shortages or deficiencies to enable corrective action.
Coordinate with maintenance staff to ensure timely procurement, staging, and distribution of spare parts, materials, consumables, and equipment required for successful task execution and minimal downtime.
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues with the CMMS, including software errors, data integrity problems, user access issues, and system performance optimization.
Ensure all maintenance activities comply with Power Plant operational standards, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
Support internal and external audits by providing detailed CMMS reports, maintenance records, compliance documentation, and performance analytics.
Analyze and optimize maintenance workflows to improve asset lifecycle management, reduce equipment downtime, and enhance operational efficiency.
Implement CMMS automation features such as automated work order generation, maintenance alerts, inventory notifications, and reporting functions to reduce manual workload and improve accuracy.
Manage user accounts, configure role-based permissions, and enforce security protocols to ensure data integrity, system security, and appropriate access controls across the CMMS platform.
Identify gaps and inefficiencies in maintenance processes through data analysis and performance monitoring, and recommend actionable improvements to enhance operational effectiveness.
Stay current with emerging CMMS technologies, software updates, industry best practices, and maintenance management trends through continuous professional development and vendor engagement
Provide comprehensive editing and polishing services for Technical reports to ensure clarity, accuracy, and professional presentation.
Create as-built drawings using AutoCAD software to address gaps in EPC/plant documentation and ensure accurate facility records (First Power Plant). Eliminating the need for external contractor engagement.
Update the EPC/plant documentation for electrical and mechanical systems drawings using AutoCAD software (2nd Power Plant), eliminating the need for external contractor engagement.
Provide on-site IT engineering support and services, eliminating the need to hire a dedicated IT Engineer and optimizing resource allocation.
Create and enhance all O&M power plant forms and record sheets to improve operational tracking and compliance documentation.
Design and create the staff identification cards, training certificates, and technical report templates to maintain consistency and documentation standards.
Key Responsibilities (Trainer)
Conduct training on the Computerized Maintenance Management System software to Expatriates and other local key Staff.
Conduct training on the Basic and intermediate English language to local Staff.
Conduct training on the Malagasy language to Expat Staff.
Conduct training on the Corel, Canva and AutoCAD software applications to selected Expatriates.
Conduct training on the Microsoft Excel Basic and intermediate to O&M local staff.
Serve as a Translator from English to Malagasy or vice versa for the Technical training conducted by other expats, if necessary.
